Since Article 14 A of the Constitution has established the right to access information, and by enforcing the right to information, there is a need to foster a culture of transparency and accountability in public authorities, so that the people of Sri Lanka can participate more in good governance and in the country. To promote a society that can actively participate in public life , the Right to Information Act No. 12 of 2016 has been enacted, and the act has empowered us to provide information in our possession and under our control, except for the information prohibited by sub-section 5 thereof.
